Two Samoas to have trade document by January

3:07 pm on 22 December 2015

Officials of the two Samoas are coming up with a draft document that would guide trade of goods and services, labour, investment and other economic fields between them.

The draft document goes to the leaders of the two sides for endorsement at the next meeting of the two governments, now planned for either the first or second quarter of next year.

The CEO of the Samoa Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour, Peseta Margaret Malua, says one of the expected outcomes is a list of goods that each side wants to reduce excise taxes on when exported across the water.

"We are going to have a working committee on the goods and this working committee will then look at identifying the products of key interests to both countries and that will be covered under the agreement."
