Sport: PNG Barramundi's fall to Afghanistan

Papua New Guinea have fallen to a 201 run defeat against Afghanistan in their Intercontinental Cup cricket match is Sharjah.

Set 390 to win, the Barramundi's began the final day on 110 for 4.

Assad Vala complied a gritty 81 for 151 balls but when first-innings centurion Mahura Dai was dismissed for 32 the wickets began to fall regularly, with the visitors all out for 188.

Despite losing the match, PNG did claim six points for winning the first innings.

The Barramundi's are fifth in the Intercontinental Cup standings on 20 points after two rounds, having beaten the Netherlands in their debut four-day match in June.
