The Cook Islands have qualified for next year's 3x3 Basketball World Championships to be held in Guangzhou, China.
The national women's side of Jasmine Davis, Keziah Lewis and Terai Sadler, which managed a bronze medal in the Oceania Championships in Australia in September, qualified as the 18th team in the 20-team tournament to take place in October.
Cook Islands is one of the three teams that will represent Oceania at the biannual event, alongside Australia and New Zealand.
National basketball development officer Adoniah Lewis says it's a proud moment for the sport to get such recognition on the world stage.
Lewis says there is still a lot of work to do to get to the next stage and is calling on supporters to rally behind the team in their efforts to raise funds for the trip.
