Sport: PNG finalises Oceania Championship teams

Papua New Guinea has finalised their teams for the Oceania Championships in New Zealand next weekend.

The Post Courier reports the Pukpuks mens team under the helm of coach Douglas Guise, have returned key players Henry Kalua and Wesley Vali.

Guise says the re-inclusion of strike player in Kalua was imminent although an unfortunate injury to Stanis Susuve made the job easier.

With the Pukpuks expected to take a more direct approach to their campaign, debutants Koroseta Veni and the return of Lawrence Kuso Jr gives Guise the opportunity to utilise Kalua wider than usual.

This will be the first time that the team has an all-round size, as the return of Billy Torea and Butler Morris gives an aggressive look to the squad.

For the women's team, the return of boxer Debbie Kaore adds bite to the team and PNG touch football representative Joylin Tikot will play in her first tour.

The women will play a round robin against Fiji, Samoa, Cook Islands and Tonga while the men are pooled against Samoa, American Samoa and the Solomon Islands in the men's draws.
