A memorial service will be held today in Papua New Guinea to honour police officers who have died in the line of duty.
The service at Bomana Police College will also honour those who lost their lives through illness or through other circumstances.
September the 29th has been marked as a day of remembrance since 1989, for Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
The National Police Remembrance Day is observed on the feast day for Saint Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of police, and a saint recognised by the Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths.
