An Indonesian military official says there are plans to tighten security on the border with Papua New Guinea after a recent alleged hostage-taking.
Tabloid Jubi reports the regional military chief Major General Hinsa Siburian says security will be tightened so similar incidents do not occur in future but he says there will be no additional troops on the border.
His comments follow the case of two Indonesian logging workers who were reportedly kidnapped in Indonesia's Keerom regency and allegedly held hostage in a village in PNG's West Sepik province three hours walk away.
Major General Siburian says besides tightening the security at the border, the community is urged to increase its own security in the region.
