American Samoan businesses are being rocked by the work slowdown on the United States West Coast which has delayed shipments to the territory.
The territory has been feeling the effects of the delays with food and milk shortages as the last food freighter arrival was a month ago.
But local store owner Frank Gaisoa says businesses are also being financially crippled.
"I cannot lay off my workers because I feel for these workers. If I reduce their hours, how can they live? They have families to feed. between the end of last month and this month, our sales dropped like forty percent."
Mr Gaisoa says the good news is that a ship should be arriving this weekend and one of the Polynesia Line vessels is due in two weeks.
