Mr Sogavare says this latest initiative is the first of several major measures to be put in place as part of his zero tolerance approach to the misuse and or mismanagement of public funds and assets.

He says this is the stance he announced when he launched his government's policy statement on Tuesday.

" Well I am starting off at the Prime Minister Office by announcing, we will announce very soon that there is going to be a window open here for the public to report cases of corruption. To report directly to me, to a window that we open here in the Prime Minister's office, so that we will pursue that with the ministers concerned."

Prime Minister Sogavare says as well as this, an international conference is being planned to start the debate on the establishment of the country's first Independent Commission Against Corruption which he has promised he will establish within this government's four-year term.
