Damaging gale force winds are still being forecast for the northern Cook Islands of Manahiki, Penrhyn and Rakahanga, as a tropical depression moves slowly away to the east.
The Fiji Met Service says close to the centre the depression is bringing winds of 30 knots (55km/h) but on Manahiki, Penrhyn and Rakahanga it is gusting from 35 knots to 50 knots (64-92 km/h).
It says the islands will get heavy rain, squally thunderstorms and high seas.
