During the final day of the first sitting of the new parliament, the prime minister Manasseh Sogavare, said he will be looking at state rights, put more emphasis on tertiary education and address the lack of national unity.

He says there is a need to analyse the causes of the ethnic crisis and position Solomon Islands to reap more benefits from developed countries.

"These and many more questions, Mr Speaker, are questions that must occupy the minds of political leaders and our policy advisors, Mr Speaker, as we travel the journey of nation building. Unity, working together, that's the only recipe for success."
