Samoa seeks climate solutions in Peru

7:32 am on 13 December 2014

Samoa's Minister of Natural Resources has told the UN Climate Convention in Peru his country would like to be assured that all parties will commit to reducing emissions and financing change that will reach those in need.

Fa'amoetauloa Lealaiauloto Taito Dr Fa'ale Tumali'i says Samoa's vulnerability to the adverse impacts of climate change is high, and growing.

He says in 2012, Cyclone Evan ripped through Samoa not once, but twice and left behind untold destruction on a level never seen or experienced before.

He says it is his delegation's hope that the Lima meeting will lay a foundation for a strong agreement in Paris that will produce a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future.
