It says the refugees comprise seven family groups, one single adult female and an unaccompanied minor.

One person was declined refugee status.

The government says refugees resettled in the community are free to move around the island, and some have found employment with local companies, while others have set up businesses.

None of them is allowed to be resettled in Australia.

Nauru says more determinations will be handed down in the coming weeks.

More than 1,000 asylum seekers are detained in Australian-run camps on the island.
