The New Zealand President's XI have thrashed Samoa 9-0 in their rescheduled women's Oceania Pacific Cup hockey clash in Suva on Tuesday.

The original match was suspended on Saturday due to heavy rain, while New Zealand were leading 4-0.

The victory moves the President's XI to outright first in the competition standings, ahead of defending champions Fiji and Australia Country.

Yesterday the New Zealand President's XI men thrashed hosts Fiji 8-2 to strengthen their hold on top spot.

In the Hockey World League, the Fiji and Papua New Guinea women beat Samoa and Vanuatu respectively to set up a winner takes all clash on Thursday.

Fiji only need a draw thanks to a much better goal differential and PNG Hockey Federation President Kaluwin Potuan says it's all set for a great matchup.

"At the moment we are rated second to Fiji because they've been playing on the turf for a long long time, more than us, but we will see what happens on Thursday".
