Auckland City's Club World Cup football hopes received a boost after they secured a 0-0 draw with Uzbekistan in Dubai overnight.
The New Zealand and Oceania champions begin their FIFA Club World Cup campaign in Morocco next week.
Captain Ivan Vicelich says despite failing to score a goal they caused their more-fancied opponents some problems and didn't concede.
"We spoke yesterday about what we wanted to get out of the game and the important thing for us is a performance. We put a good effort in there, we worked really hard and we kept a clean sheet, and we also created some very good chances so it's positive."
Auckland City now head to Morocco,where they will face the local champions Moghreb Tetouan in their first Club World Cup match next Thursday.
