All 50 MPs have now been declared following the poll last Wednesday.

The police commissioner, Frank Prendergast, has thanked the public for its cooperation during the election period and is calling for more of the same through the coalition building phase.

"Where we will continue high visibility presence in Honiara and Guadalcanal. We are also in the process of bringing those police officers that we sent to the provinces for the election and counting back into Honiara and that process has already started. Again though we are confident, with the level of support that we have been getting from the community, we will be able to maintain security right through the period."
