Fiji and China have today signed a number of agreements including one allowing Fijians visa free entry into China.

The Chinese President, Xi Jinping, arrived in Nadi last night following his two days in New Zealand.

Fiji's information ministry says Mr Xi congratulated prime minister Frank Bainimarama on the success of the elections in September and says he commended the government's achievements in nation building and economic and social development.

The leaders have also agreed to the establishment of a Chinese Cultural Centre in Fiji and reached a deal on economic and technical co-operation.

China and Fiji also exchanged letters about the building of the Vunidawa Sports Complex.

More talks are planned this afternoon while Mr Xi is also to meet with the leaders of other Pacific nations who are in Nadi.
