Superintendent Peter Guinness says 24 year old probationary constable Ludger Saingre and another policeman allegedly assaulted the woman earlier this month, leaving her with severe facial cuts and bruises.

Mr Guinness says there will be a recommendation for the man to be sacked.

He says because of the constant reports of police brutality, staff will be ordered to step up investigations and ensure implicated personnel are prosecuted and dismissed.
