Fiji's DPP still considering assault case

Fiji's Director of Public Prosecutions Office says it is still considering a case of alleged brutality by security personnel.

The case involves 30-year old Vilikesa Soko who died at Lautoka Hospital in August after allegedly being beaten while in police custody.

The police have sent files to the Public Prosecutions Office following their investigations but a spokesperson says no decision on whether to lay charges has been made.

Police are still investigating a video that was released online about 18 months ago, showing the severe beating of two recaptured prisoners.
