Sport: Manu Samoa to rely on experience against Italy

12:33 pm on 7 November 2014

Samoa have named an experienced side to take on Italy in Ascoli this weekend with David Lemi captaining the islanders.

Lemi will lead Manu Samoa from the left wing while Tusi Pisi and Kahn Fotuali'i will form the half-back partnership.

A powerful back row featuring the hard hitting Jack Lam will have an important role to play, especially because of the unavailability of the Johnston brothers through injury and Albert Anae through suspension.

As a result, Coach Stephen Betham has brought in four new faces among the replacements including Bordeaux prop Patrick Albert Toetu.

Meanwhile the New Zealand-born first-five Kelly Haimona will make his debut for Italy in Sunday's test.

Haimona, who plays for Italian club Zebre, represented the Bay of Plenty Steamers a handful of times from 2008-2009.
