The chambers of commerce and employers organisation have told the media in Paris that several projects rely on the benefits being in place.

A New Caledonian delegate, Dominique Lefeivre, pointed to the large nickel projects and the medical centre in suburban Noumea that depend on the concessions.

Olivier Kressman, representing French Polynesian employers, says in the renewal of Air Tahiti Nui's fleet the tax exemptions are a key aspect but they are only assured until 2017 while the plane purchase programme runs until 2019.
