ANU divests from Oil Search, Newcrest and Santos

The Australian National University is to divest from several companies with major interests in Papua New Guinea's mining, oil and gas sectors.

The divestment from seven Australian companies, including Newcrest Mining, Oil Search and Santos follows an independent review of ANU domestic equities.

The ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Young says the decision to divest is about meeting the desires of the university's stakeholder students, alumni and staff.

He says this means moving away from dependence on fossil fuels and towards a post-carbon world.
