A trial is underway in the Vanuatu Supreme Court contesting Alain Liu's sacking as chairman of the board of Airport Vanuatu Limited.

Mr Liu and senior staff were dumped by the previous Government of Moana Carcasses.

He says his termination was purely political and illegal and he wants all decisions taken by the current board declared null and void.

Mr Liu says his axing is linked with Mr Carcasses's involvement in the controversial plan for airport development by a Singaporean company.

He says during his term as chairman, he did not take an allowance because he is not interested in the money, rather his priority was the development of the aviation sector in the interests of the people of Vanuatu.
