Fiji and aid donors re-engaging

5:15 pm on 27 October 2014

Fiji laid out its priorities to foreign aid donors last week with the Attorney General and Finance Minister, Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, saying the Government hopes to develop close working relationships with them.

Much aid to Fiji was suspended during the 8 years the country was under military rule and various nations and agencies are preparing to fully re-engage following last month's election.

The Fiji Department of Information says Mr Sayed-Khaiyum pointed out areas where assistance would be most useful.

He says the Government is committed to working closely with aid donors to ensure their projects are co-ordinated with the Government's priorities and initiatives.
