Sport: PNG Football downplays home advantage

11:37 am on 23 October 2014

The Papua New Guinea Football General Secretary Dimirit Mileng says home advantage will only take his country's womens team so far.

PNG is hosting Tonga, the Cook Islands and New Zealand with the winner of the clashes being crowned Oceania champion and also securing a spot in next year's world cup in Canada.

Mileng says the home team will have to do the small things right in order to come out on top as simply playing at home won't win them games.

"Home advantage would help but we don't like to think that home advantage would throw everything in to win the games. So I say, the football is round and it could roll anywhere."
