Decision this week on disaster state for Fiji

2:09 pm on 6 October 2014

Reports from Fiji say the government will decide this week whether to declare a state of natural disaster over the dry weather affecting the country.

Fiji Live reports the National Disaster Management Office is waiting for assessments from those in the agriculture sector and the Water Authority.

The website reports the office Director Manasa Tagicakibau says the agriculture sector is being affected but the water authorities say they have enough water to push on.

He says Fiji is treading carefully as declaring a state of natural disaster would affect the tourism industry.
