Blockade ended of mine in W Papua

11:15 am on 6 October 2014

Reports from Indonesia say workers at the Freeport mine in the country's Papua province have agreed to open access to the mine.

The workers had blocked the road to the mining site to protest against alleged workplace-safety violations in the wake of a recent accident that killed four employees.

The Jakarta Post reports police saying a tent used to block access had been taken down but workers required their demands over workplace safety be read aloud in front of management officials.
