Toa Samoa coach Matt Parish believes his team will be very competitive in the rugby league Four Nations tournament, provided they're able to pick their best side.
The New South Wales assistant coach was appointed last July and led the Toa to the quarter finals of last year's World Cup in the UK, their best ever finish.
They also beat Fiji in May to qualify for the Four Nations, alongside Australia, New Zealand and England.
Parish is working through issues around players being released from some NRL clubs but is confident Samoa can foot it with the world's top teams.
"I definitely think we will be a lot better than what we've been because we're not going to change too much with the way we've played but what we want to do is get better. The more the boys play together and train together the better they're going to get. Most of the guys coming into the squad will have already played for Samoa so they know what's expected. Playing for Samoa is a very unique opportunity. We run it like an NRL or representative team but there's plenty of time for the cultural side of it too, which they all enjoy".
Matt Parish will name his final squad for the Four Nations on October the 6th, with the team's opening clash against England at the end of October.
