Halfway through official tallying in Fiji's landmark election, Frank Bainimarama's FijiFirst party is still comfortably ahead.
Early results show the former military commander's party has well over half the vote.
Sally Round reports from Suva.
"Provisional results are now being verified and at the halfway mark, FijiFirst holds just over 57 percent. Its nearest rival, Sodelpa, is hovering at just under a third of the vote. Only one other party looks likely to gain representation in the 50-seat parliament at this stage. There is no word yet from election authorities on evidence presented by rival political parties about voting irregularities. The final election result is expected late tomorrow."
The leader of FijiFirst Frank Bainimarama says he's happy with the results so far.
"We are happy with the results so far, it's expected - we know that that's going to happen. We might not get 50 seats but at least we'll get the majority."
