The Solomon Islands Government says it is increasing taxes on tobacco by ten percent.
The Minister of Finance, Rick Hou, says the move is to cut tobacco consumption and associated diseases in the country.
According to the World Health Organisation Solomon Islands has some of the worst smoking rates in the world, especially among youth.
