PNG officers to stand trial over slashing achilles tendons

8:02 pm on 1 September 2014

Six Papua New Guinea police officers will stand trial over slashing the achilles tendons of 74 men in an attack in Port Moresby last year.

PNG Loops reports that the men appeared in the Waigani District Court today where the Magistrate, Cosmas Bidar, said that witness accounts did not identify the six as the attackers.

However, he said the men were present during the attack, and committed them to trial under Section 7 of the Criminal Code.
