The Fiji sevens team will playoff for bronze at the Youth Olympics in China after another two defeats in Nanjing.

Sale Sorovaki's team squeaked into the semi finals on points differential after being edged 17-12 by Kenya in their final group match and lost to France for the second time in three days in the semi finals.

Fiji will again meet Kenya in the playoff for third with Argentina to face France in men's gold medal match.

Elsewhere in Nanjing, Guam managed their first win in the girls 3x3 basketball competition, beating Andorra 18-8, to bounce back from an earlier defeat to Romania.

The Tuvalu pairing of Valisi Sakalia and Loluama Eti also won their first beach volleyball match against Nigeria two sets to love, however Vanuatu's Loti Jo and Floflo Daniel went down to Argentina.

Cook Islands golfer Rayman Kiria is well off the pace after the first round of the men's strokeplay.

The 15 year-old carded a 20 over par 92 to be a mammoth 26 shots off the lead, although he did fare better than Austria's Johannes Schwab who is dead last after taking 100 strokes to complete his round.

In the girl's competition, Guam's Nalathai Vongjalorn and Memory Akama from the Cook Islands are also at the wrong end of the leaderboard after rounds of nine and sixteen over par.

Josh Iaone from the Cook Islands and PNG's Teariki Numa finished at the rear of the field in the men's One Person Dinghy Race.
