American Samoa Government employees have not yet received pay increments for the past two fiscal years despite money being budgeted.

Budget director Cathy Saelua told hearings for the proposed Fiscal Year 2015 budget that annual increments are still frozen under order of the governor.

But lawmakers were surprised that the proposed budget lists the current salaries of directors to be higher than what was approved in the previous budget.

Senator Laolagi Vaeao, who is the co-chairman of the joint budget hearings, said salaries which were only $US60,000 are listed at $US65,000 and some salaries have jumped to $US75,000.

The budget director explained that Governor Lolo requested that salary increases of $US5,000 for directors be included in this year's budget.

The governor will be evaluating directors in September and they will only receive the increases if they pass their evaluation.
