The newly formed West Papua Unification Committee says more than 50 delegates are expected to arrive in Vanuatu's Port Vila later this month to attend the West Papua conference.

The meeting will allow a wide range of West Papua resentative organisations from around the world draft a new West Papua application to join the Melanesian Spearhead Group.

The Vanuatu Government has handed over the responsibility of organising the logistics of the meeting to the Vanuatu National Council of Chiefs and the Vanuatu Christian Council to work on.

The chairman, Pastor Allan Nafuki, says the conference will be held in the National Council of Chiefs Nakamal or Meeting House in Port Vila.

Pastor Nafuki says the committee expects the number of delegates attending to increase in the coming days.

The meeting will take place from August 27 til the 30th.
