The Toa Samoa Residents have been beaten 18-12 by the USA Tomahawks in their Ohana Cup clash in Hawaii.

The hosts opened the scoring after 15 minutes and led 6-0 at halftime.

Samoa levelled the scores after the break but the US scored twice to lead 18-6 with nine minutes remaining, before the Toa grabbed a consolation try in the final minute to cut the deficit to six points.

A full-strength Toa team will compete in the Four Nations tournament at the end of the year against New Zealand, Australia and England.
