The Law Council of Australia has recognised the Bachelor of Laws degree programme at the University of the South Pacific.
The University's Vice-Chancellor, Rajesh Chandra, says it is a sign of the steady progress USP is making and its improving reputation.
USP's Head of the School of Law, which is based in Vanuatu, Professor Eric Colvin, says the school is delighted at the achievement, which shows degrees of international quality are available in the Pacific.
The recognition means USP law graduates will be recognised by the Law Admissions Consultative Committee - the body that admits lawyers who have studied overseas.
However, graduates will still have to study compulsory subjects, such as constitutional law, administrative law and property law, in order to be admitted in Australia.
