Reports from Indonesia's Papua province indicate at least seven people were killed in a landslide in an illegal mining area in the Paniai district on Tuesday night.

The Jakarta Globe reports six people are still missing after a total of 15 had been buried.

Two survivors have been taken to Nabire General Hospital by helicopter and seven bodies recovered.

Papua police say the landslide occurred in a remote area in the middle of a jungle, that is difficult to reach and where there is no telecommunications link.
