The Cook Islands have been beaten 31-14 by the Blues Development team in their final hit-out before next weekend's Rugby World Cup qualifying match against Fiji.
The visitors scored the first try of the match before All Black midfielder Francis Saili sliced through the defence to give the Blues a 10-7 half-time lead at at Bell Park in Papakura.
The Cookies again started strongly after the interval, crashing over to lead 14-10 but the home side dotted down three more times to take the win.
The Cook Islands will now travel to Lautoka to take on Fiji, with the winner qualifying for next year's World Cup.
