ANZ Bank welcomes summit in Fiji

11:05 am on 18 June 2014

The largest banking group operating in the Pacific is in full support of the Pacific Islands Development Forum whose second summit begins today in Nadi.

The PIDF is the brain child of Fiji's Bainimarama regime and was developed in the wake of its suspension from the Pacific Islands Forum.

The PIDF meeting, where the keynote speaker is Indonesia's President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, will focus on sustainable green growth.

The ANZ is a sponsor and its chief executive for the Pacific, Vishnu Mohan, says it is the ideal venue for collaboration between the public and private sectors.

"At this point in time we think this is a Forum which has come together for the right cause, which in our opinion is something which is worthy of our support, so we will come along, and as long as it is focussed on the community that we are associated we will be willing to dialogue and moving into support all the time."
