The Australian Government says it is working on 20 replacement patrol boats for vessels it has supplied to Pacific Island countries.
The Defence Minister David Johnston says the Government has invited bids from the Australian industry to construct the boats.
The replacement vessels will be steel-hulled and have a greater capability than the current patrol boats.
