Fiji student gets scholarship back

A student in Fiji has had his government scholarship reinstated after he was stripped of it for becoming involved in politics.

The Fiji broadcaster FBC news reports the Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board has reinstated the scholarship of Tamani Seruiraduvatu after reviewing his case.

There was an outcry in Fiji when the student revealed he had received a termination letter from the board asking him to pay all the money back.

The board accused the student of misconduct for "associating with political agenda".

Several politicians came out in support of the University of the South Pacific student who had been helping an aspiring election candidate with her campaign.

The board now says it received incorrect information over the case.
