Sport: Samoa U-20 want better start against Scotland

10:46 am on 6 June 2014

The Samoa under-20 men's rugby team will be hoping for a better start when they meet Scotland this afternoon in Auckland.

Samoa suffered a heavy 48-12 loss to New Zealand in their opening match of the IRB Junior World Championship earlier this week.

The Samoa coach Lemalu Semo Sititi says today's game against Scotland is a must win for them and says they can't afford a repeat of the lacklustre first period against New Zealand.

"First part of the first half we didn't really function well and I think in the first half we only had 20 percent of the ball to attack, 80 percent we defended the whole time. We had the chance to win the ball in line-outs

and then we gave away because of knock ons and so on and had to defend again. And then in the second half that last five or ten minutes we blew up a bit so it's something we need to look at."
