A delegation from Tonga is arriving in American Samoa today to explore trade opportunities.

The ten member group is led by Tonga's Minister of Agriculture, Food Forests and Fisheries, Sangster Saulala, and will meet government officials and the private sector.

The Director of Commerce Keniseli Lafaele says it is an exploratory visit with a view towards establishing bilateral trade relations with American Samoa similar to what the territory has with Samoa.

Tonga already sends regular shipments of food to be sold at the Tongan Government Center at Tafuna, which is sited on land the American Samoa Government swapped for a piece of land in the Tongan capital, Nukualofa.
