Vanuatu PM lays down law on government appointments

10:16 am on 26 May 2014

Vanuatu's Prime Minister says he wants all new people hired to work in Government institutions, statutory bodies and agencies to be hired based strictly on their professional qualifications and experience.

Joe Natuman says no one can be recruited for less.

The Prime Minister says every recruitment has to be based on consultations with all political partners in the Government.

Political observers say the Prime Minister's words show he won't tolerate jobs given based only on political affiliations.
