A U.S Census Bureau report released on Tuesday has revealed more than 300 businesses in American Samoa generated $US1.2 billion in sales in 2012.
The report on the American Samoa 2012 Economic Census, also shows that in the same year, a total of 377 businesses were in the territory and employed 7,070 people and paid $US114 million in the annual payroll.
The Census report says in 2012, capital expenditures totalled $US73.4 million.
This is the first time that capital expenditures statistics have been collected for American Samoa.
The new data will help provide more complete inputs to the calculation of the country's GDP.
