Sport: Fiji U20 footballers beaten again by NZ

11:52 am on 7 May 2014

The Fiji Under 20 football team have ended their seven game tour of New Zealand with a second heavy defeat against the Junior All Whites on Tuesday.

The hosts won 4-1 at North Harbour Stadium, having won their first clash 5-nil on Sunday.

Fiji's chances weren't helped when Narendra Rao was sent off three minutes before half-time for a reckless challenge, although Antonio Tuivuna did find the back of the net two minutes into the second period.

Fiji coach Ravinesh Kumar says despite the scoreline his side showed some improvements from Sunday's game, and did really well with just ten men on the field.

Kumar says the players are ready for the Oceania Championship later this month, where they're bidding to qualify for their first FIFA tournament.

PNG are also in New Zealand and take on New Zealand tomorrow on Thursday.
