The carrot of winning a place in the Four Nations at the end of the year is providing plenty of motivation for both Samoa and Fiji in the lead-in to tonight's Pacific rugby league Test in Sydney.
The two teams last met at the World Cup in November, where the Fiji Bati prevailed 22-4 in the quarter finals.
The winning team tonight will join Australia, New Zealand and England in the end of season tournament.
Fiji coach Rick Stone says any chance to play against the best is a valuable for the developing nations.
"I think anything that gives the country some exposure like that is a great thing. Obviously it's a fairly significant jump in class playing those three sort of top nations. First things first, if we can do as well as we did in the World Cup and keep our heads on and play well and give ourselves a chance that's the main thing we want to do this weekend is make sure we don't beat ourselves and be in a position that if Samoa are good enough to beat us well fair enough, that's the way it needs to be."
Toa centre Krisnan Inu played for the Kiwis at the World Cup but says he would relish the chance to play against them provided things go to plan tonight.
"That probably helped me want to play for Samoa even more knowing that it's a big thing for the country and the sporting world of rugby league if Samoa was to play in the Four Nations and that's something I wanted to be a part of and with the bunch of boys we've got we've got the chance to do that so see how we go."
The Pacific Test kicks off at 7-thirty local time.
