The top management of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary says it is committed to holding members of the police force accountable for their actions and ending police brutality.

The Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga conveyed this following queries raised by the media in relation to a number of alleged human rights abuses by members of the RPNGC.

Last month a video was posted online showing a man being viciously attacked by police dogs.

Commissioner Kulunga has condemned the action and directed an investigation to be undertaken into the matter, saying such alleged abuses will not be tolerated by the RPNGC.

He says details of the investigation and actions taken will be released to the media as soon as the investigation is completed.
