Vanuatu Lusi victims still await help

Officials in Vanuatu says one month after Cyclone Lusi struck, victims are yet to receive assistance.

The Director of the National Disaster Management Office says assessment were approved by the National Disaster Council, but the governemnt has not responded to the funding request.

Affected populations are advised to use up the left over crops damaged by the cyclone while awaiting assistance.

The worst affected areas are in South Santo where the cyclone claimed eight lives and many people were displaced from their villages.

Other areas badly hit include Marae village on Emae and the islad of Maewo where heavy machinery is needed to unblock roads.
