Sport: O-League champions determined to learn from past mistakes

7:31 am on 26 April 2014

Auckland City football coach Ramon Tribulietx says it's important his players learn from their mistakes if they're to be any chance of defending their Oceania Champions League title.

City suffered a shock loss to Amicale in the group stage tournament in Fiji earlier this month and only qualified for the final four as the best placed runners up.

They host Group A winners Pirae from Tahiti in today's first leg in Auckland and Ramon Tribulietx says there's been a few harsh lessons to take on board.

"We've got to push that reset button but we still have to learn the things that happened because there were a few things in there. It was more concentration than anything else but there were a few tactical things in there that we need to talk about. There's always something to learn and I don't want to put everything on the lapse of concentration thing. We will learn these things but obviously we will push that reset button as well and make sure now we prepare as well as possible for this Saturday."

Vanuatu's Amicale FC are away to Fijian champions Ba in the other semi final first leg tomorrow.
