Sport: Nadi FC says playoffs spot still possible

11:18 am on 11 April 2014

Nadi coach Kamal Swamy believes his team is still a chance of sneaking into the playoffs.

The Fijian side were beaten 3-0 by defending champions Auckland City on Tuesday and need to win their final two group matches to have any realistic shot of advancing from the group stages.

The three group winners will be joined in the final four by the club with the next best record.

Kamal Swamy says that is the new target for his players starting with the next match against Vanuatu's Amicale.

"It depends on Auckland too now because Auckland will obviously play the other two teams and looking at the number of goals they score will give us more chances of qualifying but we need to win the two games. If you look at the way we played against Auckland I was happy with the performance. I think it was our first outing with young boys but we need to make less mistakes, that's what we are going to do now."
